Se7en Opening scene

What I saw:
First images from the opening scene was of books and paper implying to the audience the film may follow a story and could be a real life incident.

Also I noticed some of the objects were sharp such as scissors and needles which maybe used to scare the audience and predict the genre of the film. Could signify a violence and a gothic feel throughout the film.

The clips of these objects were mostly fast pace and the shot size is close up of each object. This maybe implying the objects may play a significant part of the movie and are some importance on how it may play out and making it very personal.

It also has a montage effect as it has multiple clips of many different things showing multiple objects which may play a part in the film.
The text used is jagged and flickers throughout which makes the audience unnerved and also may show the type of genre the film is.

Dark colours and shadows giving a gothic feel, and has a similar colour pallet to some genres.
Intertextuality meaning references between another text from maybe another feel making it unsettling.

What I heard:
A constant beat at the start of the scene similar or slower to a heart beat, which maybe unnerving but also adds a rhythm for the audience to follow but we it speeds up near the end which may imply something might happen similar to when a heart speeds up because of adrenaline or a speed up because of movement.
There is distorted voice, which are extremely creepy and mysterious adding tension to what might happen in the next scene.
Also there is radio tuning sounds implying could be trying to get help from the outside world. This is just giving more clues to the audience while they try and unravel the mystery of what is happening.
