The title sequence starts with a 360 degree pan around the city which could be an establishing shot but then merges into the title of the movie "Sin City".
The city scape was in black and white overall making it have a dark and mysterious feel making the audience feel unsure.
The title is in bold red font fully spread across the screen making it very obvious what you are about to watch but also breaks the black and white colour pallet of the movie which makes it even more outstanding.
The text used is once again bold but not fully red but instead with a white border but with what seems to be a shadow inside.
The transitions between each characters picture start from a cut but then fades out to black adding mystery to each character.
The music used is jazz and has use of saxophones making the title sequence have an older feel to it, yet still has a mystery essence and also fits well with the black, white and red theme.
The music starts quite slow with long extended notes giving a scary and menacing feel but as it continues the tempo picks up and the beat is continues, compared to the saxophone which is a lot more random with the type of note and when it is played.
The music finally starts to change and gets slightly louder and looses rhythm but ends up with a kind a scream and fades out but restarts again for the final credits before it finishes. This gave the element and suspense because we would think something would happen as there was a build up of music.
The opening scene of Sin City continues the black, white and red colour scheme as the city which we saw in the first establishing shot but the man is in a black and white suit were the women's dress is in red and so is her lipstick. This makes the women in the scene stand out more and the main focus point of the frame giving her importance and maybe on top of the visual hierarchy in the scene.
Once again we hear saxophone playing in the background playing slow jazz giving an older feel to the scene but also implying some kind of mysterious music.
The use of two shots really shows the relationship between both characters as they are both very close to each other and use various actions to show there love for each other for example hugs and kiss.
The weather rapidly changes when they both first start to kiss implying to the audience something bad may happen after.
This is then quickly changed from the flash of white light and the sound of a silenced gun which probably came as a shock to the audience considering what had just being happening between the characters.
The dialog throughout the whole opening scene was said in a very calm and smooth voice, which maybe quite uncomfortable for some of the audience and may come unnerving after he shot the women he was with.
The last shot of the scene looks down onto both the characters making both look insignificant and of no importance to the scene. And the use of pathetic fallacy of the weather really sets the scene for the emotion from the characters as it is quite depressing and disappointing.
